3rd National Seminar on Special Education 2009

"Meeting the Educational Needs of Learners with Dyslexia in Inclusive Classroom" was the theme being discussed today by the presenters from Singapore ( DAS- Dyslexia Association of Singapore) at Chancelor Hall of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.  Teachers, special educators, principals, head teachers, relevant professionals, support services personnels from other government, NGO, parents and Children with special needs were amongst the participants attending  that Seminar.

This is the opportunity for me to acquire and indeep my knowledge through exchange ideas as well as discuss issues and problems related to the process of increasing the achievement of students with dyslexia in inclusive education.  In addition, it can develop and increase participants' awareness in supporting students with dyslexia so as to enable the students to achieve their full academic potential in the inclusive education...

Another benefit to attend the seminar, I have an opportunity to meet my  friends from Temburong, Belait and Tutong districts....

Israk Mikraj holiday ..means to us

'Israk & Mikraj' is a muslim special festival day in remembering the events of our Prophet Mohammad S.A.W.  It's not a tall story, Muslims believe it to be true.  So today, it is our country's public holiday to celebrate it.  Its no meaning typing the words Israq & Mikraj in this blog without explaining to you what actually they are. For non-muslim, let me share what those words mean.  

Israk is when Prophet Muhammad was first taken from Masjidil Haram to Masjid Aqsa. Mikraj was when he was taken up to heaven to meet the Creator, Allah swt. Revelations were given to him about the future, and he saw the conditions in hell. He met the other prophets. And he returned to Makkah. The event happened in one night.

And it's revealed in the al-Quran
"Glory to Allah Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque(Masjid al-Aqsa) whose precincts We did bless- in order that We might show him some of Our Signs; for He is the One Who hears and sees all things."
[surah al Isra' 17:1]

Lotion for my hands to night....emmm..I just busy having day time with my family this afternoon till few minutes ago.  From lunch to dinner..uhhhh...tired but I loved and enjoyed it. Still thinking of precaution, away from crowded places! so no where to go... at last my mum and sisters came over my house without us knowing at the first place..

Yesterday,  my husband received a package from DHL company.  At first, I thought it was his club. Then he opened the box and I saw something look magnetic, wide and  long thick white paper. I was thinking a few seconds...that things are for what...Then I realized they are car's accessories.   My hubby has been looking forward to put stripes at the front bonnet of my mini.  But I didn't want that at first place..then I think why not..Anyway at last I said OK...and the outcomes, its look ok too with those stripes..  What a newlook..wow

For me its fun and enjoying driving this small Mini Cooper 's' ..easy to park, cute and sportage for woman at my age..woopsss did I say that but My hubby still prefers and admires the old classic mini....soon..

Under Quarantine

The World is worried about the latest disease H1N1. I always pray to Allah to save us from this H1N1.  

Thanks god we are not catagorized in that cases.  Today is our last day  for my family to stay at home since the 4th July. It has been 4 days we are not allowed to go out of our house area.  We are under quarantine by the Ministry of Health.  They said it just for a precaution and it could be happened if any possibilities we might be the carrier of the flu too.   This is due to our close contact with my sister who has been identified to have symptoms of H1N1.  She just came back from Singapore on the 1st July and then after 3 days she had shown symptoms of flu, headache and running nose. 

Thanks to the Ministry of health that has taken thorough action and their alertness on these cases.  During the quarantine, we are required to take body temperature twice a day for the nurse to record.  In addition prescription, thermometer, food and drink are provided during the quarantine period too.  

Back to my sister's story, she has just recovered from the flu and soon she will be free from quarantine too. We are recommended to wear masks after the quarantine for protection if we leave our home because the disease is still risky out there.  But at least we feel freedom again tomorrow...

Iffah's Identity card and a new passport

Now my daughter iffah has her own Identity card and a new passport which I collected from the Immegration this afternoon. It was her birthday on the 25th June.  That day, she had to be registered to Brunei International Immegration for her identity card.  After applying her identity card, we bought for her a cake as our thanksgiving for her.  It was just a very simple celebration for her to say goodbyeto  her memorial childhood.  She was really happy and enjoyed it so much.  As a valuable gift, we pray and wish her to be always a bright, ambitious, happy, caring and loving daughter for us and her siblings.  She got an Apple Ipod for her birthday in advance.....We love you Iffah.

Michael Jackson in Memory

Michael Jackson, 50, the King of Pop died  on Thursday 25th June in Los Angeles because of sudden Heart Attack.  I was really shocked to hear this news, he is my favourite pop star until now.  I like his songs since I was teenager ..but Faith has chosen him to leave us all in the world..and to all Muslims let us pray for him ....Al-Fatiah..

Our Journey to Kota Kinabalu (Sabah)

Kota Kinabalu is the place we chose for vacation during the school holidays.  We went there on 14th June for 5 days to see the scenery of Sabah's city.  I had visited Kota Kinabalu once with my hubby about 10 years ago by sea. But it is different now, the city changed drastically from 10 years ago. This time we brought our kids traveling to KK by van.  My sister in law's family joined us too but with their own car.  It took about 5 hours to reach to KK city. We had to chop our Passport 7 times in seven immigrations in order to reach to KK city. Eventhough it was very exhausted journey but we enjoyed the scenery on the way to KK.

 We had visited Manukan Island, Sabah's mosque and waterworld theme park . My kids really enjoyed snorkeling at Manukan Island.  I wish we could stay there for a week so we could go to Mount Kinabalu.  We had to leave early because we need to attend our niece's wedding day the next day.  We will go there soon..to see the beauty of the Mount Kinabalu and other four islands.
